Wooden Raised Planter (Homemade)

I am making a homemade planter from wooden pallets and planning on putting it onto another pallet instead of straight onto soil to raise it up slightly (I have Osteoathritis and find it better for me because I dont have to stretch as far). How do you prevent soil from falling through wooden slats but still have drainage?

You could use hessian or the landscaping material. You could even use old compost bag which you put odd small holes in. Old net curtains would also work.

Thanks for your advice, I've got plenty of old compost bags - at least I'll be putting them to good use.

mj10364  If you're going to use planters into the future, and several of them perhaps, it will be possible to make permanent ones out of square plastic down pipe, roofing slates and angle plastic.  Email me at [email protected] to talk it through if you're interested?
