You can also cut them completely across the middle into 2 halves which you then stand on-end. Only 2 plants per bag but useful for things which need deeper roots.

What's the main difference between grow bag and compost?
Are they just pre-seeded with fertiliser?
I've got some leafy home made compost, will that do this year, as I've found sourcing compost/grow bags a hassle/difficult and involves running the gauntlet.
Are there some compost no nos? Or anything that the tomatoes really like?
There's some Ozzie chap that turns up a lot on the youtube recommends, who has huge corrugated sided raised beds for his tomatoes. With screens/wire support down the middle. And looks an absolute delight to move about and water.
Not sure about re-planting in the same beds/soil culture with tomatoes?
