Cutting alliums

Mary370Mary370 Posts: 2,003
Hi, grew alliums for the first time this year, they were fabulous.   They are coming to the end of flowering now and are developing green bud like growths, should I cut the flower stalk down?  Leave them go to seed?  What's the best thing to do with them now?  Thanks......

  • hello! if you would like some more alliums to pop around in your garden next year (as many do), I would leave it well alone and let it go to seed. But if you ant to control the number of alliums and instead have just one or two, then you can cut the stalk back to the  base and dry it indoors. Also nice spray painted gold / silver for Christmas once dried :)
