VINE WEEVIL in new Sanguisorba Tanna

I have bought a couple of Sanguisorba 'Tanna', and got them out of the pots to remove some rooted bits of plant to pot on. There are vine weevil grubs in the compost unfortunately.

Is it best to apply nematodes/vine weevil killer to the plants in their pots, or should I wash the rootballs free of compost and then repot them? They are vigorous plants with plenty of good root.

Wash the roots and repot. Then add the nematodes.

Thanks, I have done this now. I split the plants to be sure - glad I did as a couple more grubs were inside and also some eggs I think. Have ordered nematodes and will do the whole garden as I have found them elsewhere this year, and noticed a couple of holes on my Sarcococca's leaves.

(BTW I soaked them underwater in a bucket last night to 'drown' them - this didn't seem to do anything!)
