Wild Strawberries

Tanty2Tanty2 Posts: 231
Hi all - Just a quick question - my garden has sprouted lots of wild strawberries which I'm happy about (I might get to eat them!) and also they're solving a temporary ground cover problem too, which is helpful.  I'm just wondering if I should let them do their thing or if they're a total thug who should be banished before they completely take over!  Any experience/advice would be appreciated, thanks :)

Wait until you taste the first few before letting it go rampant.  Some wild strawberries are not very nice tasting while others will be fanstastic.  It depends on the first plant which grew from seed (so will be an entirely new strain), after which they clone themselves with runners.  Fingers crossed that your strain is a good one! :)🤞

Thanks all for the input!  Now I just have to see if I can beat the birds to the first fruit :)
