Hi folks very new to gardening about 6 weeks ago I had about 50 laurel hedges planted they were between 60 and 90 cm. the gardener who planted them advised to water every 2nd day which I have however it looks like something is attacking them anyone have any advice
Could be a combination of aphid/caterpillar attack when the leaves were young. Not to worry, they will grow out of the unsightly looking leaves. The damage around the edge may have been caused by watering/spraying something wet whilst the sun is out. If watering, ensure you water directly into the base and do so in the evening/early morning time to minimise possible burn.
Finally, just a suggestion, to help the shrubs establish better, it's best to dig a much wider border to allow less competition around the base. Even grass will take away water from the young plants. They have the potential to get very big as well as wide.
