I would agree. When we lived in the country near the coast we referred to it as pheasant food as it flowers and berries.

Young plants look nothing like the adult plants.
pitter patter is perfectly correct.....Leycesteria formosa.
Common names include.
Himalayan honeysuckle
,
flowering nutmeg
,
Himalaya nutmeg
,
granny's curls
or
pheasant berry
,
