Identification.

Can anyone identify this plant please? It tends to grow like a weed in between paving stones / at the edge of borders etc.

    It looks like mare's tail (equisetum) not sure if the spelling is correct.  If so it is a nasty weed and it has a shiny outside cuticle that seems to repel weedkiller.  You have to stamp on it to bruise it in order to allow a weedkiller to work.
