What is this?

Hello my name is Paul and I am new to gardening and new to this forum (I am very keen to learn from you all). This little fellow has appeared in my bedding border and is growing at a rapid rate. Does anybody know what it is and can I easily replant it at the back of the garden in a more shady area?

Good luck getting it out if it is  ;)

I also think it’s an ash tree seedling ... get it out ... roots as well. Learn to recognise it ... where there’s one there will be more , if not now then next year ... and the year after.

Some  years ago the former residents of this house left an ash seedling to grow... this is it now

    Wonderful .... but very big!

That looks a beautiful tree but no way do I want that in my bedding border. I am really grateful that you all identified it and I will crack on digging it out. Cheers!

They can be quite tricky, but you might get it out now if you're lucky!
Soak the area round it if it's dry.
The only alternative is to use Brushwood stump killer later in the year, so if you can avoid that, it'll help.
