Alderman climbing Pea and Hazel chipings.

Hello All,

Newbie veg gardener here with two questions.

1, The kids and I have made a six leg wigwam for Alderman climbing Peas. As usual over seeded and take the weak ones out. Almost every seed has sprouted. How many is okay to allow up each leg of the wigwam?

2, Three years ago we had a rather large over grown hazel coppiced. We had a ton bag of chippings left for us by our friendly tree surgeon. I was going to use it as mulch. Given that has deteriorated over three years can I still use it as mulch or any thing else?

Thanks in advance for you help.
