Hope I'm in the right place.
Hi everyone, I have just joined and do hope I'm posting in the right place. So my OH and I live and work on a Retirement complex and have been given an overgrown fenced off area to use as a private garden. It's basically been left to go wild and used as a dumping ground with old plastic chairs and pots so my first thoughts are to get some strong arm in to completely clear it out, dig out the overgrown laurel and shift the bramble, old grass etc. We have 3 trees which have to remain in situ but can be crown lifted. I'm not too fussed about them, I like trees they are more or less on the perimeter and they provide welcome shade as the plot faces South/South west. The plot is approx 30 foot long by 12 wide, it has an existing patio area which needs work but is perfectly serviceable. The fence is yuk! I'd love to change it but budget is sparse. My thoughts are if it were painted and then we put nicely contrasting trellis panels up it, we could grow upwards to disguise. I particularly want to grow some kind of flowering vine which I can train along the existing trellis on top. The ground on the other side of the plot is higher than inside and so we will be seen unless we screen. I adore the new fad of shades for the fence but cannot make my mind up a) about colour and b) if I'm going to grow up the fence am I wasting my money? What are your thoughts about fence colours waste of time?

This colour makes the fence disappear and anything growing in front really stands out.
It will also help prolong the life of your fence.
If money is tight screw eyes and wire is cheaper than trellis or use wire up to the top of your fence and short trellis above or have you that already?
Photos are always helpful
