Fig Tree

Hi Everyone,

This is the Fig tree I brought from Lidl 3 years ago as a 8 inch “stick” and I didn’t expect much.

Its grown well to about 6 feet tall.  I’m now wondering what I should do to make flourish into a better specimen ? I’d like to keep it in a pot if possible ?

    Keeping it in a container is no problem (and indeed wise as they can get out of control in the ground) but it needs a bigger pot/container of at least twice the size in every direction so about eight times the volume of the existing one.  Something about 60x60x60cm would be fine for many years.
    It's a shame it wasn't cut back when younger as that would have encouraged branching from lower down.  It's not too late to still do that and you could cut it back by about half when re-potting.  Sounds drastic but is no problem for a fig.  See here:
