  Mahonia but the red colour is making me doubtful.

  Definitely Mahonia sp.

  Aka Oregon grape - the state flower of Oregon.  The berries are edible, but not usually abundant enough to be worth harvesting.

  It looks more like Mahonia japonica or one of the named cultivars.
  Note the flowering stalks are long/straight.
  While Mahonia aquifolium flowers are in clusters...hence berries give rise to common name Oregon grape.
  
  Not easy to id accurately ..it involves counting the number of leaflets/time of flowering etc.

  Mahonia. New growth often has that colouring. Mine looks exactly like that just now.
  Winter Sun or Charity - can't remember which one I have
