I would dig up all the turf and make a mound in the corner of the garden for the insects , bees and critters and sow seed now.

You are then in total command of the process and can manage YOUR lawn daily.

I think the phrase is flogging a dead horse.

    Good luck

A total shocker...who actually laid it? If it's a professional they'd better sort it out free of charge.
I have a good idea who laid it  ..... :D
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

So far, after checking it out. Soil and turf was dry as F. So I have flipped each turf, watered it, watered the soil and laid it all back. Now I will be watering it more often longer. We will see.

Good luck, but I think its chances are very slim.

I don't understand, you asked for advice, many people have given you the same advice, you have ignored it. Why bother asking in the first place?
How can you lie there and think of England

Because they cost money. I've spend a lot on turf and machinery hire. If I can save it at no expenses then good, if the grass is beyond saving (which is likely) I will refer to advice given here. If I would have money to spare I would have redone it as per advice right away as I know it will work.

If you decide to returf (or reseed) it might be best to leave it until Autumn now, if you can live with it until then. Summer isn't the best time to make a new lawn (not impossible particularly if we get a cool wet one, but not ideal).

I have never been a fan of turf - I thought it always ends up looking like lucas' patch but I have to say @beanie31 lawn looks well done by some professionals, even neighbours cats loved it so much they had to come claim it as theirs  :D

I will agree though that summer is the worst time to sort it out now - september next good time. Add a layer of topsoil before replanting.

I think it is a bit harsh for some people to claim lucas is ignoring the advice given, hasn't been done professionally but that costs twice as much. Lawns should not be our main priority during a once in a 100 year pandemic.

Thankyou, I am very pleased with the the job they did for me! However the cats are testing my patience I’ve had to pick up AtLeast 7 poos from the actual grass now 🙈🙈
