You may have just gone ahead anyway in the absence of any replies, but (chemistry not being my strong point), l don't think it should cause a problem. I stand by to be corrected !
I think the biggest problem will be that it'll heat up very readily. Camellias aren't great pot specimens either, unless you're very careful about the siting of them, and their care.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Thank you both. It has been in a pot for at least two years and generally does ok. Apart from this winter when it was in a bit of a draught and the buds got a bit burnt. I’ve since moved it.
I bottled it on the zinc planter in the end and bought a new ceramic pot. 😀
