Rhus Typhina- how to plant one without it dominating?

As someone who has been fighting them for nearly 7 years I would say whatever you do do not plant it in the ground. Ever.

I would second that. We inherited one we moved into here, planted just in front of a 4ft retaining wall. Its roots/suckers went under the wall foundations and sprouted in the lawn which was 4ft higher!

Erm..about 8 years, something like that. It’s a fruit crate, I think they are 1.2x1x1. Yes 3 in 1 container.

We were in our old house for 12 years and inherited one in the front garden in a lawn border next to the front fence. Never had suckering.
Don't know the name.

There's a couple of them in gardens near me.
They look well behaved, but I can't see what they look like on other side of the walls....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
