Epiphyllum cactus getting weaker

Hello!
I got this Epiphyllum from my grandmother. This is a piece that broke of the mother plant. She kept the roots in water for a day or two and I planted it in a pot with soil and I slightly damped the soil. However, the plant looks a little bit weak, like its dried and its soft to the touch. Any ideas or recommendations?
