Hedges and border
Hi all,
I'm new to gardening and I'm getting addicted to it. I think im making mistakes and saw one episode of Gardener's World saying we learn from it. Last August I planted Griselinia littoralis and Photinia Red Robin along the edges of the walls to close in the garden to gain privacy and add a nice mixture of colours to look at. But think I made a mistake. The Photina Red Robin is not as dense as I thought it would be. Should I have planted the green Privet hedging along that wall? Should i let the Photina Robin plant grow more and see? Maybe I'm impatience.
The brown grass is due to another mistake i made - there is an old concrete path and slab under and it about 2 inch deep so it no enough - look like i will have to take up teh grass and add more top soil.

Same way a Field Maple can be restricted into a thick hedge:
I didn't know that pruning did that I thought it was to remove unwanted twigs or branches. Ive got a lot to learn then. Must read up on pruning.
Thank you for your advice.
In the case of Photinia, you can't really go wrong.
