Identify plant

Hi
The attached plant has appeared in my garden, can anyone please identify it. I think it could be Japanese Knotwood but not sure
Many thanks

Yes ... afraid that looks like Japanese Knotweed. ☹️

Sorry to say I agree with Dove.  The leaf shape is right and also the distinctive zig-zag stems.

.. and the red blotches on the stems.. :#
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Oh no,😫 I'll get rid of it now, thank you for replying

It's close to the house but doesn't look like it's spread much yet luckily. What did you do with the prunings from last year?
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • They were put in the garden waste bin, it was only a tiny thing last year, what is the best way to dispose of the stems once cut?

Check with your local council. Ours says not to put it in either the green waste or the normal waste bin. https://www.doncaster.gov.uk/services/bins-recycling-waste/japanese-knotweed .
