    Thank you all your comments and advice... They are blooming splendidly and the yellowish foliage remains but it probably is a combination of all the above. I will endeavour to put a got mulch down this autumn and early next spring. I believe my new love for gardening is here to stay. Just need to offload some of my courgette plants to the neighbours now!!! 
    Also this morning, my newly planted Lupinus, had been attacked by hundreds of greenfly and other pests. I originally thought the stem was discoloured but it the greenfly in their hundreds. Since, I have sprayed them with my rose spray and knocked/scrapped as many as possible... not sure what else I can do?... I will put a separate post up for this issue with a photo. Didn't think lockdown would be this busy!

    G.byzantinus are certainly hardy here @Fairygirl and as you know it gets pretty cold on the moors.

    I've never tried them @punkdoc - if anything looks half hardy or borderline, I tend to give them a miss  ;)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
