White flowers on my Lilac 'Sensation'

Hi Folks
I have a 'Sensation' Lilac tree in a large pot. This year it has developed some white flowers as well as the usual bi coloured flowers. Both varieties of flower are on the same branch
Any suggestions as to why this has happened?

PS - reversion can be caused by stress, may be worth checking it's not rootbound.
