Relatively new beech hedge
Very new Gardener: How much is too much water,/too little/ how will I know/can I over do it? In this dry weather in the south east how often should I water?
I planted a beech hedge last year and its now coming into leaf.
Plants are planted in two rows 7in between the rows and 9in between the plants, spaced alternately. Currently 2ft high. I hope this makes sense.
Thanks in advance.

A big watering canful every couple of feet or so, and every couple of days should suffice, for whips that size, but it's one of those things that you do by 'feel'. You may need to do more, especially if there's no rain in your forecast for a while
A mulch of bark, or even just some compost, after a thorough watering will also help through long dry spells. Wind is also very drying, so keep up the watering if that's the case.

Hope it grows well for you
