It's been so nice to have it on in the background today, with local craziness going on.
I've been sitting on the doorstep a lot of late, talking to neighbours at the gate. I've been really enjoying the low, bees' eye view amongst the salvias, scented roses and near the nemesia. I get very distracted from the conversation by the bums of the bumblebees bumbling drunk on salvia Bumble. It's all very up close and personal.
Like it or lump it. This is 2020. Wowee those comic strips have come true. Men in special space-like suits. Talking to your wrist watch. Now all these different Apps and whatsits. Makes you wonder when or where it will end. Just imagine. Hey, Smiffy, I heard that. Sorry. Heard what. I haven't even said it yet. (Stop the world, I want to get off)
Seriously though, technology is taking over and at a very fast rate.
Where were we? So yes. Chelsea 2020 is annimated. Look there goes Monty, click click wher. No friends, please. Jokes a side.
Surely we must be grateful for this modern day means of taking in the annual festival.
I’ve been enjoying it - nice to look back at some of the best bits again. I also think it is remarkable that they have managed to put together a professional looking show in the current circumstances. If husbands, wives and partners can make such a great job of filming our horticultural heroes, one wonders what cameramen were ever actually needed for 😀
I know its all about Chelsea but couldnt they repeat some old gardeners worlds at some point on the telly?! I've rather enjoyed the old archers episodes thryve had to repeat on the radio.i stopped listening a few years ago but fondly remember when I first started listening..Brian's affair!mum made me listen as she was on holiday.
I must admit l wish the TV coverage had gone back further than the last 10 years. I remember going in the late 80's / early 90s when the big rock gardens were coming to an end. I'm sure there must be some stuff in the BBC archives . I did enjoy Adam Frost's tour of his garden on the RHS website. I have serious garden envy !
I've been watching the TV programmes here and there, just skipping through the bits I remember seeing before or am not interested in. But I'm really enjoying the YouTube videos - they are the new, rather than rehashed content and much the better for it, imo. Those combined with the lockdown Garden Masterclasses (not Chelsea-related) have had me on YT loads more than usual.
