As this has found its way back to the top of the tree, could I add that the initial post didn't make clear the purpose for which the lights were required. With the provisos of sunlight availability having an effect, we've just bought a couple of them @ €5 each from one of the German supermarkets to make night time movement round the bungalow free of switching on main lights. I have to say they're very good, with enough light to go anywhere, most of the night. We do try to move the light sensitive receptor round to face the sun during the day but, for a fiver?, money well spent.
I think that no matter how reliable in terms of use, you are still dependent on the amount of sun that they get @mrsteveearsom . A week of cloudy weather and they won't come on at all after a while. My solar lights are in full sun at the moment, but they won't stay on for anywhere near the same length of time as they will in say June or July.
If you really want to make a feature of it all year round, it might be better to invest in having an electrically powered spotlight professionally installed. That way you can connect it to a timer , and have it dusk until dawn if you really want that, or only being lit until (say) 11pm. If you have any neighbours nearby who might be affected by it, just be sure to check the spotlight angle doesn't shine into any nearby bedrooms.
