    I prefer a deep pot - takes up less room, and gives better stability.
    Growbags are better used on their sides, or if used the standard way, with those bottomless pots on the holes. They should always be shaken well before use anyway, and lots of holes in the bottom.

    I've grown toms in all sorts of pots - the florists' pots are quite good. You really don't need anything terribly big - but around a foot width will give a good depth too.
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    only using the grow bags for the soil as it’s going in the pots

    With a grow bag I stand it on its end, cut the top off  empty half into something else, and then roll the sides down until you reach the compost. Put a cane through it and out of the bottom into the ground for stability, put a few holes in it for drainage and it will be good for toms, cucumbers or whatever.

    I’ve saved all of the containers that came with the plants I’ve bought.. because I’m a hoarder by nature lol. I guess this is when my habit has proven beneficial for once. I have lots of pots from David Austin that are 28cm across and 30cm deep.

    @Pete.8

    Sorry @amberspy for hijacking the thread a little.. with regards to pots.. I’m assuming that for tomatoes the width of the pot is more important than the depth? I’ve based this assumption on the fact they can be grown in grow bags which are really quite shallow.
    I always used standard 22L plastic pots outside. At the end of the season the pots were filled top to bottom with roots and plenty of roots went through the bottom of the pot into the gravel below too.
    I've never used any other size of pot so have no comparisons.
    I don't think they'd be too fussy, but i'd probably go for depth rather than width
