Lupines?

ThebigeasyThebigeasy Posts: 190
When we started looking for plants for the garden my youngest wanted a lupine when he saw a picture of them, managed to pick one up yesterday.

How much sun do they tolerate? What is the height and spread once fully established? Do they die back in winter?

Got lots of space in the front garden but thats where play with their footballs so trying to keep hardier plants there.

Hello @Thebigeasy, they like full sun and will cope with some shade so quite flexible. You should get a good few months flowers, nip off the flower stem when all the individual, flowers have faded and more will grow. They die down completely in winter but should reappear bigger than ever next year.

I think most rea round the same size so maybe metre tall and wide when mature - so a few years to get to that size.

Also easy to grow more from seed if you collect some at the end of the season

One of my favourites as they remind me of my Nana’s garden when I was a kid.

I don't personally recommend wolves in the garden.... :D

Watch out for aphids and slugs when they appear - they're very susceptible. I gave up donkeys' years ago with them.
They can also be short lived, so take cuttings or do seeds, as @Butterfly66 says.  :)

I heard that @Fairygirl. I think it would be great. People are pathologically scared of Wolves, but they kill fewer people than lightening strikes and do a wonderful job of balancing an ecosystem.
    Bring back the Lynx too.

Done a bit of jigging about and managed to find a space in onethe corner beds, will get a good bit of sun and fairly sheltered from strong winds. But more importantly no footballs should be kicked  near it.
