Red robin leaves not red or flowering?

Hi, I have a red robin which early spring had bright red leaves, now they are all green. Are they supposed to be red all year?

Also it hasn't flowered yet and there are no sign of flower buds? Any advice on this?

Should I be watering it?? At the moment I am not but am concerned as the weather is very dry.

In the photo the plant is right hand corner ( you can see some red on the top of the plant)

Thanks in advance!

Did you prune it all over and feed it?
  • Yes and yes! 😬😬😬 I had read as soon as the leaves turned green prune it to encourage red leaves. And I fed it after pruning - is that wrong?

The foliage does not stay red forever. As the leaf ages, it slowly goes green. At this time of year, if you have pruned it you will have removed the chance of flowering stems. If you like the flowers, resist pruning back from autumn time and don't prune until late May to June, which is when they will have started flowering or finished flowering.
