Crab apple tree

Evening

I hope this is in the right section. I've noticed powdery mildew on my crab apple tree. It's not too bad, not all over, just a few of the smaller shoots/branches.

Last winter I meant to prune it and never got round to it. It really needs it as branches are shooting everywhere, Criss crossing etc. Some of the top branches I can't reach to spray with a milk solution for the mildew. I know it's not recommended at this time of year to prune but I'm thinking can I kill two birds with one stone and do it now?

It needs a haircut and tlc like we all do at the moment.

Thanks.

To be honest, l don't think it's a good idea to prune it at this time of year, it might be better to leave it until next winter .
