honeysuckle

Hello I have a honeysuckle in a pot and I know theyre better in the ground. I'm thinking of buying a smaller variety which is suited for pots (https://www.rhsplants.co.uk/plants/_/lonicera-periclymenum-strawberries-and-cream/classid.2000023628/). I want to remove the other one but it is growing with lots of new growth after dormancy in winter. When is the best time to remove? Can I do it now?
