Grass seed in flower bed

I have been clearing a large flower/shrub bed the last few days. There appears to be a covering of shallow rooted grass along the top of the soil
The problem is, as I hoe the grass I notice its dropping seeds onto the surface
It's all going to reseed  isnt it (sad face)

Any tips or ideas?

I cut the seeds off the grass before getting the grass up off the flower bed.

I am sure that there will be a better way but that is the only way I have found.
  • Purple rose, thank you so much for your reply.  Unfortunately the area is too large. The hoe has to suffice

Try to hoe more often, so you catch them before they flower.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
  • We have a potted Xmas tree. This is it’s 3rd year but needles have started to go brown. Is there anything I can do to save it ?
