Is it a snail?

I have just noticed a clear slime going round almost every leaf edge of my Geranium plant in my container which sits inside some petunias, is it snails or something else, also what should i do? thanks.

Hi @a.sheriff and welcome to the forum.

It is either a slug or a snail ... I’ve not known them eat geraniums (which are probably pelargoniums but nows not the time for that discussion), but they will munch your petunias.

What I would do is inspect the base/rims of the container as there may be pests lurking there.  Also go out in the evening and inspect the plants for marauders.

If you still don’t find the culprit/s then I would get some of the more environmentally ok ferrous-based slug pellets and distribute 6-12 pellets ... no more ... on the surface of the compost.
If you use too many you’ll attract more molluscs than you kill.

    Hope that helps. 😊
