Are these cucumber and carrot plants?

Shoxt3rShoxt3r Posts: 196
Hi all,

I've had carrot and cucumber seeds in for a good few weeks now and so far these plants in the two raised beds are all I have to show for my efforts haha.

Please can someone reassure me that these are what I think they are - or whether I need to rethink what I'm planting this year?

Thanks in advance!

The first one looks like a willowherb 😞. But the second one could be a carrot.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

I agree first one looks like willowherb, taken a small bucket full of them out of the veg plot in the past few days.

Top one definitely not cucumber. Bottom one looks like carrot though

That's a shame 😔. Looks like I'll have to rethink the cucumber raised bed in that case as none of the seeds have taken hold.

I've got a few more carrot seeds so will give them a go!

On the upside my strawberry plants and tomatoes are coming along nicely underneath the cloche!

The trick with gardening is having enough going on that you quickly forget any failures  ;)

We were looking at three rows in the veg plot today, carrots one side, parsnips the other, gawd knows what they were supposed to be, but swamped with willowherb at the moment. Perhaps lettuce, but nothing recognisable, give it a week and will re-sow if nothing is showing.

Definitely a nice little carrot you've got there in Photo 2!
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.
