I have a blue veronica which looks almost identical (mine has slightly paler blue flower spikes) and pops up every year.
Sadly I can't read what's on the tag anymore..

Ah... thanks Pete. Veronica I shall have to order some seed.

If that's your garden now it looks great. Hope to get mine looking that way over the next year or two as I'm heading for retirement at the end of the year unless the blasted virus gets me first. I just have visions of working since I was 15 to find all those years of paying into a pension lost.

At least the wife will benefit from it lol...

Damn! I must start being more positive  :)

Good on you. I'll be going two years early so hope to enjoy early retirement myself. Will have to watch the pennies but its time to go I've done my bit .. :)

Post a pic of your garden when its in bloom I could do with the inspiration and yours looks just the sort of thing I would like to do. I've just been sticking in bedding plants every year but would like to have more long term residents with as much colour and foliage as possible but, I dont have the skills to create like you have, maybe, in time I will.

    Cheers Kili.
I've always enjoyed gardening but used to work long hours so rarely had the time.
Over the last few years I've been removing some old boring shrubs and replanting with perennials and the like and it's really coming on.
A few years ago I got a proper greenhouse and am really enjoying getting back into proper gardening again..
Last year I had the house renovated, so not much got done in the garden, so it's catch up this year.

I'm trying to get a basic layout of a few shrubs and perennials then pop in some cosmos and the like for a splash of colour.

Previously this border was just a muddle of old shrubs from the 1970's, so in 2017 I removed them and started to create something more interesting.
The white foxgloves were a real success, so will be sowing more next month for a display next year.

Looks great, foxgloves, must add those to my list as well.

Your garden looks quite big. I'm trying to cut down on the lawn in my garden as its a bit too small for a big lawn. Its 10 meters by 8 meters so not that big just have to work with what I've got I suppose. Plus (because it was free) I've got a 9 x 13ft greenhouse plonked at the end of it so that takes up a good chunk.
More than some have so count myself lucky juts need to get it in to decent shape like you've done..

I do have another veronica which I grew from seed called Blue Bouquet.
It is lovely but only flowers for a couple of weeks

Good luck with your garden Kili - it's so good just to get out there and potter for a few hours

I often wonder when I see your name if you ever kept killifish?

    Thats a nice Veronica too.

lol... my name reflects the fact that I've climbed (well walked as its a walking mountain) Kilimanjaro a couple of times with charity fundraisers up it and then went on to northern Zambia to work for a charity for a month with a few of them.

Good memories and, after what I experienced in Africa I use Kili to remind myself of how lucky I am to be born in western Europe. After what I saw working out there I can only be grateful that by an accident of birth my life has turned out the way it has and not had sufferd the way the people I saw there do.

WOW!! that's a lot more interesting than keeping fish :)

There are times when I feel a bit down, but I frequently remind myself of where I live and what I've got in comparison with so many in this world who through no fault of their own have nothing. Then whatever was getting me down seems so trivial by comparison.
At least you've been out there and actually done something to improve their plight - Kudos to you!!

Yeah, I always try and keep it in perspective by reminding myself this ain't a trial run and I ain't coming back so try and enjoy it whilst your here but,  I have to frequently remind myself to pull myself together and be grateful for where I am, who I am and what I have.

Thanks for all your help and advice with the plants look forward to getting my garden in as good as shape as yours.

    Cheers Kili
