Thompson & Morgan

It would appear that T&M are having issues with poor quality plants and my recent purchase would back that up.

I ordered six Tomato plants in pots to be posted to me, and I can understand that once the plants have been dispatched they are in the hands of the courier. However, if 3 tomato plants are packed in to a box approx. 50 cm square and 10 cm high, without any form of packing they are going to get thrown around inside the box, disaster.

Added to that the fact the plants were sent out on 4th May and didn't arrive until 11th May meant they were dried out and no longer viable. The second box was much smaller, again with three tomato plants, and were much better packed, but they were also dried out and all six plants are now in the compost, not very pleased.

Subsequent deliveries of plants have been perfect, being posted on the 11th May and arriving on the 13th May.

This forum is littered with complaints about T&M. They're ok for seeds and maybe bulbs.
    Plants - not so much....

Just had some tomato plants from Marshalls. Sent to my office in cnetral London, contrary to instructions  :( but were very kindly hand delivered by the only person going into the office to check on things. They are about 2 inches high and one of them is broken. I have had various palnts on order from Marshalls since January and this is the first to arrive. I hope it's an anomaly on all fronts. You can't contact them by phone...
I have some plants on order from T&M. I hope they will be ok. Not veg so not essential, though:)
I can report that Suttons are as good as ever (i.e. very. And customer service still good and prompt.) I got my tomatoes from them over a month ago (which is why they are no 3ft tall and fruiting... :o )
