I'm not at all saying that supporting local businesses it a bad thing. We had traffic jams near us on a GC on a hill where the entrance drive is very short and there was nowhere for cars to queue to enter, except on the main road. It didn't make sense for hundreds of people to turn up on the first day and swamp the place and bring traffic to a halt. Just daft GC panic around here and not helping the GC as they had to send out staff to manage traffic stand still.

I’m in the queue at Bents right now and it’s incredibly well managed.  Very safe and efficient and we’ll organised, I’m very impressed.

That sounds awful @Fire I understand your concerns and each case is different. My little local nursery was almost empty maybe because they only sell plants no niknaks and assorted GC rubbish. Everyone very courteous and friendly it was a very pleasant experience.

I've just had a call from my local nursery saying they are ready to do my order and asking me to call them.  I'll sit down when I do as they will obviously tell me how much it is.  In 'normal' years I buy bits each time so don't think about the cost.

Plant wise what differences are people noticing? Is it mainly the annual bedding that is in shortage?

No shortages of anything, where I went.

Hardly any shortages, the petunias and pelargoniums were a bit depleted, but plenty of everything else and I went near the end of the day.   I was very happy with my haul, and then the lupins were just sitting there right by the queue to pay so I was powerless to resist and got a couple of those too!

    Thanks @Nanny Beach and @FlyDragon
This is both excellent and a little part of me was thinking the restrictions would help with my plant buying addiction :# That's exactly what would get me Flydragon and everything else  :D .  If I can just hold out until my squashes are all planted out then I've done over 2 months.

Well done!  I didn't even stop buying plants during lockdown!  This garden centre was delivering within a 5 mile radius so I got an azalea from them a few weeks ago, plus some seeds online, don't know if that counts!

Of all the addictions we could have, buying plants is not so bad, that's what I tell myself anyway!
