Bugs on my red current bush

I found lots of these bugs on my bush (two together in a big pot but only on one) I brushed a lot off before I photographed this one any ideas about it.

I think they’re one of the many types of Scale Insect.

Yep, scale insects.  That white stuff showing at the end is an egg sac so remove them asap before the eggs hatch as the young scale insects (known as 'crawlers') will wander all over your bush before settling down somewhere and starting the cycle again.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
