Delphinium flower issue

Hi,
I have lots of delphiniums in the garden. One plant which is self seeded is lush and produced 3 very tall flower spikes. They have no flower buds up the spike until you get to the very top. When there is a tight cluster. Looks odd. Any ideas? Shall I cut them off?
