Poppies growing from seed in ground

    I don’t know a massive amount other than I read poppies are better to just scatter on the ground as that’s what they would naturally do. I did this with sand
    Which is supposed to help spread out but mine didn’t spread out in some areas. I did have quite a lot of seeds though so maybe that’s why.
    However, I think it was advised to do this a few months ago as they need a cold snap to germinate. 
    I didn’t cover them with any soil either, just scattered and left them, gave a sprinkle of water every now and then. They seem to be growing ok so I’m just toying with thinning them out or leaving them to grow as they landed.
