    Welcome to the forum.

Fruit and veg and flowers were only 'separated' by the the Victorians. Veg were thought of as far too vulgar for the Victorian ladies to see in the gardens. So were hidden away.

If you are not so easily offended, you can grow both together, it would be a lot of fun and will help you learn a great deal. You will always need to be bringing on new plants to replace those you eat!

If that area gets good sun it looks like a perfect spot. As Gemma said you can grow a mix of things. I always throw a few flowers like nasturtiums and marigolds in with the veg beds. Some herbs too.

Just a couple of things to be aware of. The stone walls will make a nice home for slugs and snails so you need to keep an eye on them.

Also there are some plants that can spread and take over a whole bed if you let them. Like mint or raspberries.

Best of luck with your growing.

I do get a lot of slugs/snails in my garden, i also found recently some maggots at the end of the wall that have either come from the sleepers that are rotting and getting replaced or my neighbours compost bin that is not far from that area. Is there anything that I can add to the area before I plant to stop these.
Area gets quite a bit of sun in the morning and in the shade in the afternoon.
Trying to figure out if it's a good idea before I start planting and what I need to do.
