How long for these hedges to grow back please? *Help*

Hello im new to the forum my name is Scott. Im just wondering if anyone could give me abit of guidance on my hedges. They have not been maintained by the old owner and only had about 5cm of green on the branches and im tarmacing my full drive do needed to chop down the width so had to go pretty far back to make any difference.

My question is how long am i looking at for my hedges to grow back green again (or if they ever will again :/ ) they face the sunlight all day and ive removed all the dead brown bits off them all.

Thanks

Sorry but don't think they will. Conifers just don't unless it's a Thuja. Don't know what yours are.

They were a monotonous slab of dull, dark green. Now they’re the same but with an ugly face of brown.

I am afraid I don’t think they will grow back. Looking positively, you can replace them with something interesting and have an attractive feature underplanted with some plants that will grow if the soil is revitalised.

Unfortunately, they won't grow back unless the hedge was a Thuja (can't tell from photo) as nearly all conifers don't produce shoots from brown wood.  Even if it is a Thuja, it will never become a seamless wall of green again.  I would have them removed and replace with a fence as the soil will be exhausted of food and unsuitable for a new hedge (unless you have the roots removed and then add approx. a ton of well-rotted manure to get some nutrients back into it.)
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
