Can I plant this in sun but sheltered from wind I have red acer no idea what kind as got in supermarket few years ago but didn’t expect it to do well but did but want try orange dream in different site of garden but want be sure before ordering
I have an Orange Dream and it's a great vigorous grower, my first location did manage to scorch the foliage quite badly last year, now having a great time in the shade. Many seem to think if looked after well Sango Kaku can do well in sunny spots but they will need a lot of water. Also green dissectum varieties tend to do fine in sunnier places. Unfortunately no way to guarantee how they'll behave in the microclimate of your garden.
No, sorry, this particular acer scorches badly in the sun and all acers benefit from being in the shade and out of the wind.
Is any acer I can put in sun
Hi I'm no expert, but if it helps I would agree with a Sango Kaku in full sun. Here's a pic of mine from the weekend in a south facing garden. Plus its only in a pot which also gets blown around quite a bit and seems to manage well. Had it about 3 years, and it's about 7ft.
