Which is best for COMPOST bIN - DIRECTLY ON SOIL?

    I have mine on soil with half-inch wire mesh underneath. It works fine, plenty of brandling worms, but no unwanted guests.
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

    Mine are on paving slabs, there is pea shingle under that, because thats what was already there, also they are those plastic darlek things and easier to clear up, masses of worms and good quality compost.
