I seriously don’t fancy eating any tomatoes they may produce 😱☠️

I wouldn't either @Dovefromabove. Which is why I'm asking about what the others are growing in!

I wouldn't fancy them either. I find the pictures slightly disturbing

    It is disturbing ☹️
I have been so busy with everything else going on that i havent been paying attention to individual plants. Now i think it could be something in a specific bag of compost as some plants which i didnt pot up also have problem so nothing to do with glove or weedkiller. And yes they were a bit dropping unsupported for the height but not curled up like this when i i h potted up.
The poor little plant which i noticed today with problem is also trying to grow sideshoots and those are getting affected too. So no hope for the ones i yesterday pruned. New shoots would be affected too. I need to giveup on those.

Picture of a healthy and affected plant both sowed at same time.

I don’t suppose you still have the bag it came from?

can you remember where you bought it?

I would contact the supplier’s Head Office, in writing with photos, asking if they have had any other customers reporting similar problems and offering to to make a plant available for testing.

You could mention that you are a member of this forum  where the problem is being discussed.

the difference is quite noticeable on the last picture and it looks like they are potted in the same compost?

I don't bother with tomatoes for pretty much reasons like these anymore - I would have maybe guessed too high temperatures and lack of ventilation but I think that would not display the same symptoms.

Atleast pete was honest with his diagnosis - sometimes best to write it off as a failed experiement

All in various packets of wickes mpc.

I had a large order with many packets and used it for almost everything in the garden this year. May be just some bad packets. Wont know until later in season if some other plants getaffected too. I did wonder why this time some flower seed germination have been so bad because even though i am not so experienced, i am pretty good with growing from seed.

Nevermind, i have now thrown the plants and washed all the pots with very hot soapy water.

That's interesting @newbie77! I've had unprecedented problems with seed germination as well this year using Wickes multi purpose compost.

That's very interesting @Singing Gardener. I wonder if there's been serious contamination of some kind?
I think @Dovefromabove's advice is really good here. Contact them - it might be surprising in that perhaps others have had the same problem as both of you.

I've never used Wickes - for anything. I don't think we have any outlets anywhere near here.

I've never used Wickes compost before but it was the only place that would deliver compost and had it in stock during the lockdown. I think the plants I've potted on using it have been ok though. I must go out and check up on them more carefully! I didn't use it for my tomatoes but I think I used it for my peppers and chillies and they look ok.
