Salt destroys the soil too :/

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I always favoured the dig down and pull up with as much root as you can and painted individual bits with weedkiller where they were growing between paving.
You need to check every day during the growing season.
Don't know the age of your children but get them searching them out and a prize for whoever spots the most by the end of the week, with a prize also for runners up!

You so let yourself down with that Brexity rant...nope all of EU's officials are electable in some way. It's called direct and representative democracy and they're very good at it unlike the current shit show in No10 and its unelected charlatans like Cummings. I suppose you think hereditary monarchy is more democratic too.

Hello @Smudgerii, my suggestions that it will weaken over time are based on my personal experience in my own garden. We are in year four with this garden and there is definitely less this year than the first. Like everything in gardening, experiences will vary from garden to garden.
I suppose I’m lucky in that mine was on an allotment, so no precious plants/lawn to worry over.

    You mentioned Brexit not me...

For clarity, MEPs are elected the EU commissions who decide the policies are not.  My thoughts on politics and monarchy have no place on a gardening forum, but sadly you have yours very clear.  For further clarity I’ve let no one down, you on the otherhand...  well the above quote speaks volumes.

Try sticking to the subject from the OP and leave your political leanings out of it.

Thanks for all your advice on the horsetail, I'll get on that today. Hopefully I can get it before it spreads. Its by the bins, so I'm not planting anything there, so I can use salt. Still no chemicals, still have a toddler who plays near there.
