Hi, I left some of my Dahlias in the boarder this winter, a couple havent come up yet. Do you think they still might?

Thanks

  • Mine are only just emerging, there is a cold spell forecast so I have covered each one with a upturned flower pot. Hope this works.

I lift and repot but planting some out yesterday into their border I found one I'd missed last November, the shoot was only about a centimetre high so time yet...watch out for slugs/snails they love the new shoots.

Watch out for slugs. They slice the shoots off as they emerge so you think there was something wring with the tubers.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • Thank you for your help.

Everyone seems to say lift the tubers, but I had a Bishop of York which finally out grew its welcome, it was about 6 x 6 and I never lifted it I just cut it back and covered it with an 18ltr water bottle from one of those office water machines with the bottom cut off. it even survived the winter of the Beast from the East and I live in Leeds.
