Honeysuckle

Eileen107Eileen107 Posts: 94
when I planted my honeysuckles a couple of months ago they were both very healthy. 2 weeks ago they were both dying from the bottom up. I carefully lifted them & put them in fresh compost in tubs. They haven’t improved & if anything have got worse. Also the leaves have white patches over them. Has anyone any idea what is happening to them & whether I can do anything to save them. Appreciate any advice. I have attached photos below.
Thank you

I’m afraid that honeysuckles are rarely happy in containers.

The white patches are mildew. Lack of water and air flow but honeysuckle is prone to this.
Every year mine does this I cut it back and it's fine and regrows but never seems to get to the flowering stage before it succumbs again so in the end I give up and plant something else but in previous gardens they have been spectacular.
Sorry I can't be more helpful

Now that you've moved it, don't over water and don't over feed it.  If the soil is still moist down to a fingers depth, don't water.  Too much feed can also be bad thing.  With white mildew, wait for a warm day, mix a bit of milk (doesn't matter whether full fat, skimmed, semi) with water into a spray gun.  2 parts milk to 3 water.  Spray the leaves with it.  The proteins in the milk help kill off the mildew.  I get white mildew often on my scabious, and this works every time.  Just has to be a warm/hot day.

Providing it maintains its leaves, it should recover, just give it time and not too much tlc
