What is the law on sowing the seeds of plants not native to the UK?

As the title really.

I know customs usually prohibit the bringing of plants from one country to another. 

I am curious about what the law is (probably agricultural) in respect of sowing seeds that are from plants not native to the UK. Anyone knowledgeable on the subject?

    I grow tomatoes from seed every year. :/

    There's a list of controlled species that you aren't allowed to sow, plant or otherwise propagate.  https://www.gov.uk/guidance/prevent-the-spread-of-harmful-invasive-and-non-native-plants

    Seeds of the Salvia hispanica  plant is what I had in mind.

    The majority of plants we grow in this country are not native.

    If it’s not on the banned list you can grow it in your garden. 
    However it’s really bad practice to sow or plant anything in the wild ... apart from the ecological damage you may do without being aware, everywhere belongs to someone. I’m not saying you would do this ... just saying it ... 😊

    There are commercial growers of chia in the UK...so can't imagine it's an issue https://hodmedods.co.uk/products/british-chia-seed
