If you've noticed @potwoman, he doesn't advertise the G-Tech much these days which may suggest it's been a flop like the bike with no rear mudguard that sprays water up your back in the wet.

I bought one of the “Spear and Jackson” sets from Argos. Mower, trimmer and two batteries for £200 last summer. Very pleased with them

  • Hi...i had a good experience with them. I remember to charge it overnight the night before I'm going to mow, the battery has never died on me. At least 75 minutes of charge last year, probably less this year after I forgot to take the battery inside for the winter.

Like @AHR I could definitely recommend the Bosch Rotak 36LI. Easy to get in and out of the shed and starts immediately. Battery doesn't take long to charge and a good choice of settings easy to adjust. Being of the older generation my son bought it for me with that in mind and so far I can't fault it.  :)

My neighbour had a Gtech mower and it certainly did the job OK if the grass wasn't too long or too wet.  Nothing like as effective as a petrol mower in those situations, but she wouldn't have been able to use a petrol mower anyway.  I used it to keep the grass looking decent when she died and was quite impressed with it, with those caveats.

The Which review of cordless mowers puts GTech in 23rd position out of 43 with a score of 61%. The top performers were
    Bosch Rotak 43 81%
    Ego LM12 80%
    Stihl RMA339 78%

Spear and Jackson was in 8th place with 74% and was, by some margin, the cheapest of their Best Buys.
