Ideas Please!!

Hi all, I am new to the forums! I was looking for your ideas as to what I should do along the base of this fence. It is in this partial shade all day with the light creeping through the boards. The grass is not great in this shade and it’s quite damp. I need to fix the wall (it is a support for the next doors garden) and then I want to brighten this area up. I was considering planting a few fruit trees into the grass along the edge of this wall and surrounding with shrubs... any ideas what trees and shrubs would do well in this area?
