Morning - another warm and sunny day.
Desperately need several days of heavy rain.
The grass has turned to straw and the clay soil is like concrete where it isn’t regularly turned. No meaningful rain for nearly 3 months and the local farmers are in despair - flooded fields in spring, followed by drought and there are all sorts of Covid related problems getting the pickers they rely on for harvest. I have no idea how they keep going.
Debs - that was kind of you to take care of your neighbour yesterday. She may be independent but there will be lots of tasks she'll find difficult with a wrist in plaster. Hope she asks for help when she needs it.
SGL - this site has been playing up for days for me. Keeps throwing me out and on some days there's a huge info message about Covid surrounding the postings. When that's on the page seems to jump all over the place.
    LB - beautiful orchids🙂
Today I'm 'sorting out' a border where there are lots of Spanish bluebells. Tried to get rid of them but without success but I have managed to confine them to a small spring border where they look very pretty and I can cut them back before they drop seed. The leaves are so messy though - I always end up just yanking them off - doesn't seem to weaken the plants unfortunately.
OK - that's my 15 minute sit down finished. SYL👋

Hi all just spoken to neighbour over the wall, she is feeling a bit delicate but planning a quiet few days. I have tried to persuade her to ask for any help she needs but she is very independent. Her family is coming later with shopping for her and I have assured her that her precious runner beans will be watered regularly. Gorgeous day here just pottering mostly, I too am often distracted and never seem to finish a job without seeing another to start in the garden.

Afternoon everyone, I was up and away early this morning…honest! 😇
Hope you are all enjoying your day. I’ve just topped up my rain barrels from the hose there’s none forecast and it’s so dry here much like TBirds. Just curious has Stuart the stone been going on his excursions with Molly?
I need to top up my fluids now, see you later 👋

its Very quiet out.  I heard from a lovely lady who likes to travel to Portugal but she won’t entertain the idea for a while but keeping in contact with friends online.  Thankfully the family are doing well and keeping busy.  Debs it must have been a shock to your neighbour.  I do hope she manages and good she has family nearby.

Afties all. Despite the rain earlier - which was just a drizzle really - the garden is dust dry and working out there was making me cough. I've finished that dusty bit for today. Its got very hot so I'll finish off tidying later when it cools down.
Debs, thank you for the update on your neighbour and its great that you will be able to help her. It sounds like she has a good family too and they must be very grateful for your assistance yesterday.
Chive, I've done that before during the drought a couple of years ago. It was far easier working from the water butts rather than the outdoor tap. Rosie, I don't think that I'll be rushing to the shops when restrictions are lifted.

Evening Ruby. I am sitting here patiently waiting for my bird feeders. I've decided that I'm going to give the seller another day - as it was the Bank Holiday - and if nothing happens then I will open a dispute with PayPool. At least I know that my money is secured. I've already found the feeders on another site.

    Evening Everyone,
LB, I wanted to say how beautiful both colours of those Orchids are, I hope the rain didn’t affect them too much earlier. I’m pleased that you’ve done the same with tap water, I prefer to fill watering cans from the butts. It’s disappointing not to have receive your bird feeders, maybe the starlings are on to you and they’ve intercepted the post!
Rubee you’ve been busy with your borders again, are you having a complete change or tweaking where things are?
Rosie it is encouraging to hear smaller businesses maybe able to open soon, we all need some positive news. You are right there no sausage rolls left 🙄
Hope Chey is doing better now and Ante must be busy I wonder if he managed to plant his beetroot.
